This compilation of data and graphs is part of an ongoing analysis of the supply and distribution in rural versus urban areas of physicians, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs). The data displays and tables include time trends for rural and urban physicians, NPs and PAs as well as trends for primary care health professional shortage areas (HPSAs). All the states in HHS Region IV (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina and South Carolina) are covered by this data.
