Welcome!

The Southeast Regional Center for Health Workforce Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was created through a cooperative agreement with the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis in the Bureau of Health Professions at HRSA, and was one of six federally designated regional workforce analysis centers. However, the six workforce centers were defunded in 2006 due to Federal budget cuts. Despite this, the Center continues to be active, and works cooperatively with the North Carolina Area Health Education Centers Program (NC AHEC), for which Dr. Tom Ricketts is a member of the invited stakeholder group, and eleven statutory licensing boards for health professions in the State of North Carolina to maintain the North Carolina Health Professions Data System.

North Carolina Institute of Medicine Examining Physician Supply Issues: Under the auspices of the Technical Assistance project, we worked with the NC IOM to examine primary care and specialist physician supply in North Carolina. The final report and fact sheets can be found here.
